What follows you across state lines
Three Loyola rules follow you to any state. First, an active RN license is required in every state where you do practicum, plus a Louisiana or multistate license while enrolled; you select your own preceptor and site; and the affiliation agreement must be signed before any hours count.
Loyola publishes a licensure table that lists every state as meeting requirements, and a State Approvals Map that restricts Alaska, California and New York and marks Hawaii, Montana and Wyoming not approved. Can I study nursing online at Loyola New Orleans from any state?
Loyola participates in SARA for its online programs, but its State Approvals Map limits practicums in some states: Alaska, California and New York carry restrictions, and Hawaii, Montana and Wyoming are marked not approved. Check with the School of Nursing ahead of applying.
Why do Loyola's state lists disagree?
According to the June 2026 licensure table, every state meets the educational requirements for licensure; the July 2026 approvals map instead shows where the School of Nursing can run practicums. They answer different questions, and they disagree for several states, so read both.
Does Loyola accept students from New York?
Loyola's table says clinical rotations must currently be done outside New York and that it is not accepting New York applicants unless they can do practicums in another state.
