Wisconsin students in Loyola New Orleans nursing programs
Wisconsin is approved for all Loyola University New Orleans nursing programs, and Loyola's advanced practice licensure table attaches a note to it: "Certification candidates must pass a jurisprudence exam on Wisconsin APNP statutes and rules." Two Wisconsin facts shape the practicum itself: the Board of Nursing there holds out-of-state schools to its own approval, and a rewritten APRN law has governed since September 1, 2026.

Loyola's note uses the older APNP title, and DSPS, the Wisconsin agency that licenses nurses, has since turned APNP licenses into APRN licenses, so ask DSPS about the exam when you apply. Loyola's other state notes are on the licensure disclosures page.
Wisconsin's Board approves schools from elsewhere
Approval of nursing schools headquartered outside Wisconsin runs through rule N 1.06 of the state's administrative code. A DSPS form, 3067-OEE (revised April 13, 2026), spells out that such schools must carry approval from Wisconsin's Board of Nursing, at every level from practical nursing to graduate study, post-licensure bachelor's programs among them. Continued approval depends on a self-evaluation report to DSPS, Form 3069OEE.
That paperwork is Loyola's, not yours. Loyola's map shows Wisconsin approved for all programs; before you promise a Wisconsin clinic your hours, ask the Clinical Practicum Coordinator whether that approval extends to your track.
Preceptors licensed in Wisconsin
Form 3067-OEE also sets a credential floor for everyone teaching clinicals in the state, faculty and preceptors alike: licensed in Wisconsin, or holding the privilege to practice there. Verify it before a name reaches your Wishlist, then hold the clinician against Loyola's preceptor requirements, which call for board certification, a practice history past 2,080 hours and no relatives.
The APRN law in force since September 1
AANP's category for Wisconsin is reduced practice, describing NPs as working in collaboration with a physician, and its fact sheet flags the APRN Modernization Act taking effect September 1, 2026. DSPS explains what 2025 Wisconsin Act 17 did that day: one license type, APRN, now spans four roles (CNM, CNS, CRNA and NP), APNP licenses on file were switched over to APRN, and a nurse wanting to work with no collaborating physician must file a distinct application, which the Board then has to approve.
So expect NP preceptors to carry the new APRN license. A collaborating physician, where the practice has one, is worth asking too, since Loyola's FNP guide lets physicians, along with NPs and PAs, supervise FPCM I and II.

Carrying the right RN license
Wisconsin nurses have had multistate licenses available since January 19, 2018, the compact's start date there. As a Wisconsin resident, hold yours as multistate: it covers the Wisconsin site and Loyola's requirement of a Louisiana or multistate license for the life of your enrollment. Why does my Wisconsin preceptor's license say APRN?
Wisconsin's 2025 Act 17 took effect September 1, 2026. From then on DSPS licenses advanced practice nurses as APRNs in four roles, and older APNP licenses were converted. The change leaves precepting eligibility to Loyola's own tests: board certification, experience and an unencumbered license in the site's state.
Can I train across the line in Illinois or Minnesota?
Loyola's map approves both states for all programs, so a clinic there is possible. That clinic follows its own state's rules, your RN license must be active in that state, and your preceptor must hold a license current there. Check whether the site already has a Loyola agreement before you reach out.
