Practicum hours in New Hampshire, planned the Loyola way

New Hampshire in Loyola's own records
Three sources, one answer, so a New Hampshire address raises no approval question. Online FNP and Executive Leader students can look for sites near home, hybrid tracks still bring campus intensives, and Nurse-Midwifery and Nurse Anesthesia placements come from those programs. A Board rule written for pre-licensure schools
New Hampshire licenses nurses through OPLC, the state licensing office that houses the Board of Nursing. For distance education, rule Nur 602.15(j) puts a duty on pre-licensure schools headquartered elsewhere: tell the Board ahead of time that they mean to use New Hampshire facilities, then give six weeks' warning before each placement. The paperwork follows: Form A as a yearly petition, Part B for each rotation, and one Clinical Preceptor Agreement per preceptor.
Graduate students at Loyola arrive already licensed as RNs, and OPLC's own education page puts post-licensure tracks, naming RN-BSN and RN-MSN, beyond what the Board regulates. One loose end remains: a copy of the rule posted online shows it lapsing on January 23, 2026, while OPLC kept referring to it that same month. Look up its standing on the OPLC site, and put the filing question to the Clinical Practicum Coordinator.
Full practice, and what Loyola still asks of a preceptor
AANP places New Hampshire among its full practice states, where nurse practitioners are licensed through the nursing board with no required physician contract. That opens the door to NPs who own their practices.
Loyola's standards travel with you all the same. The FNP guide expects board certification, more than a year of practice, a license current in the state where the site sits, no family tie to the student and a preceptor on site for every hour. Manchester, Concord and the Boston fringe
Census Bureau figures for 2025 show about 433,000 residents in the Manchester-Nashua metro and 158,000 in the Concord micropolitan area. Another 459,000 or so live in New Hampshire's share of the metro centered on Boston.
Five systems give a search its first outline. Dartmouth Health counts Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center among its hospitals, Catholic Medical Center belongs to HCA Healthcare, Concord Hospital Health System serves the capital, with Southern New Hampshire Health and the Elliot system completing the five. Those last two launched SolutionHealth together, and in July 2025 their boards moved toward breaking that partnership up. Since an affiliation agreement names a single legal party, learn early who would sign for a site.
A clinic over the line in Massachusetts counts as a different state even inside one metro. Loyola's map approves Massachusetts too, but your RN license has to be active there.
Licenses for a New Hampshire site
- RN license: compact rules have applied in New Hampshire since January 2018; any member state's multistate license reaches a clinic here.
- Loyola's enrollment rule: a Louisiana or multistate RN license, held without a gap while you are enrolled. A New Hampshire multistate license satisfies it.
- APRN Compact: New Hampshire has not signed on, and with five enacting states the compact is still dormant, so NP licensure after graduation follows New Hampshire's own process.

Questions Loyola students ask
Does New Hampshire require Loyola to register before I start clinicals there?
Nur 602.15(j), the registration rule, targets pre-licensure schools from other states, while OPLC places post-licensure programs outside Board regulation. Graduate students at Loyola are licensed RNs already. The rule's status after the January 2026 expiration printed on one copy is worth a look on the OPLC site, and the Clinical Practicum Coordinator can say what Loyola submits.
Can a New Hampshire NP who owns a practice precept me?
Yes, when the NP meets Loyola's standards: board certification, more than a year of practice, a license current in New Hampshire, no family tie and presence on site for every hour. The practice also needs a signed Loyola affiliation agreement before your first hour counts.
I live near Nashua. Could my site be in Massachusetts?
Loyola's map approves Massachusetts for all programs, so the state is open. The license rule is what changes: Loyola wants an RN license active in every state where you log practicum hours, and your preceptor's license must be current in Massachusetts. Is New Hampshire one of Loyola's restricted states?
No. On the July 15, 2026 map only Alaska, California and New York carry restrictions, and Hawaii, Montana and Wyoming are not approved. New Hampshire is green on that map and on the older August 2025 file, and both June 2026 licensure tables list it as meeting requirements.
