What shapes the quote for your Loyola placement
Every quote is written for one student's placement, because the work behind it changes with the Loyola course, the hours involved, your home area, the weeks left before the term and what the site still needs from Loyola. Below are those factors, what each quote covers, and the practicum expenses that come from Loyola's own process instead of ours.

Why each quote is personal
Two Loyola University New Orleans students can ask for a preceptor in the same week and need searches that look nothing alike. Take an FNP student in Jefferson Parish who wants NURS G827 hours at an established family practice is one job. Now picture a BSN-DNP AGACNP student in a rural parish who needs at least 250 acute care hours, on shifts that fit around a full-time job,: that search is a different one entirely.
So the quote follows the placement. Once your placement advisor knows the course, the location and the calendar, the size of the search is clear, and the quote says which of the factors below apply to you. Asking costs you a few minutes: the form below takes your program, your city and your term.
The factors that move a quote
- The course and its patients. Outpatient family primary care for FPCM I and II is the most familiar request.
NURS G829needs 150 pediatric and 50 obstetric hours, which one broad family practice may cover or two sites may share. - The hours. A 200-hour FPCM course, a BSN-DNP AGACNP practicum of at least 250 hours and a 180-hour DNP project practicum each place different demands on a preceptor's week.
- Where you live. A dense metro offers many practices to approach; a rural area or a thinly served state widens the radius. The state also has to be one where Loyola approves your program's practicums.
- How soon the term starts. Loyola asks for three months of lead time. Inside that window, the outreach and the paperwork compress into fewer weeks.
- The site's agreement status. A site already on Loyola's Explore Clinical Locations map has fewer steps ahead of it than one that must sign the Standard Loyola Affiliation Agreement or send its own contract for review.
- Setting approvals. An FPCM IV specialty site, or hours in urgent care, a hospital or a nursing home, add a director's approval to plan around.
- How many practicums you want covered. A single course, one academic year, or every practicum on your plan of study.
One course or the whole sequence
Loyola's programs stack several practicums one after another. The MSN FNP runs four courses of 200 hours; the BSN-DNP FNP adds 540 project hours in NURS G939, NURS G942 and NURS G944 for 1,340 in all; the MSN PMHNP spreads 750 hours over five courses; and the BSN-DNP AGACNP totals 1,290.
Some students bring us one hard course, very often FPCM III. Others plan the full sequence so each preceptor is confirmed before its three-month mark. Planning ahead lets us ask a practice early whether it has room for you across two or more courses, and it gives each preceptor more notice. It also keeps the next term's search from starting late, while hours for the current course are still underway. Expenses that belong to Loyola's process
A few practicum expenses come from Loyola's own requirements and sit outside anything we quote. You purchase two Exxat subscriptions, one for Required Documents and one for STEPS placement processing, and you cover the background check and the drug screen, both arranged through the School of Nursing's contracted company. A site may charge its own onboarding fee, and travel to a distant site is yours too. Ask each site for its onboarding list early, since some add HIPAA training or their own screening on top of Loyola's items.
Loyola carries some items itself. The School of Nursing provides malpractice coverage for practicum hours, and the Standard Loyola Affiliation Agreement has neither Loyola nor the site paying the other. Each item, with the Loyola document that assigns it, is on the Loyola placement costs page.
The expensive mistakes a good placement avoids
The costliest problems in a Loyola practicum are measured in time. Hours logged before the affiliation agreement is fully signed are forfeited, and the course may have to be taken again. A student who falls behind on compliance is not registered for the practicum course. An Incomplete for unfinished hours has to be cleared on Loyola's schedule, and every graduate program must be completed within five years.

Questions Loyola students ask
Why does this site give quotes instead of a price list?
The work differs from one Loyola placement to the next. A pediatric and obstetric search for FPCM III, an acute care search in a rural parish and a DNP project site each take a different amount of outreach and paperwork. A written quote for your own placement is far more accurate than a list could be.
Is Loyola's Exxat subscription part of your quote?
No. The Exxat subscriptions for Required Documents and STEPS are a Loyola requirement that every graduate student in the placement process buys through Exxat. Our quote covers our search and the packet we prepare. Questions about the subscriptions themselves go to the Clinical Practicum Coordinator.
Will a close start date affect my quote?
It is one of the factors we weigh. Inside Loyola's three-month window, the search, the preceptor's paperwork and any new affiliation agreement all have to fit into fewer weeks, which changes the work. Your placement advisor gives you an honest read on what your start date allows before any work begins.
Can I get a quote for a single practicum?
Yes. Many students ask about one course, such as NURS G829 with its pediatric and obstetric hours, or a single DNP project practicum. You can add later courses at any point, and planning them together gives each preceptor more notice and you more choice.
What happens with the quote if my preceptor leaves mid-term?
On-call help through the term is part of every placement we take on, and your written quote explains how a replacement search is handled. Tell your placement advisor as soon as a preceptor signals a change, because a new site may need its own Loyola agreement before hours resume.
