Reduced practice and your Arkansas preceptor
AANP files Arkansas under reduced practice: some part of every Arkansas NP's work is tied to a regulated physician agreement, and a set of medications can be prescribed only within a physician's protocol. For those drugs, your preceptor's prescribing follows that protocol.
The physician agreement leaves Loyola's checklist as it was. Loyola still asks for an Arkansas license in good standing, national board certification plus over a year in practice, and it rules out relatives and remote supervision. What Arkansas asks of nursing schools from elsewhere
Part 125 of the Arkansas nursing board's rules deals with a school from another state only when it sets up a new program inside Arkansas; then the state's Division of Higher Education must sign off, the home board must approve or accredit it, and national accreditation is required. For APRN programs, Part 123, Subpart 10 gives nationally accredited programs deemed status. Neither rule sets out a separate board filing for a school that only places practicum students in Arkansas.
One section of the Nurse Practice Act, 17-87-103(2), lifts the license requirement for students whose nursing happens as part of an Arkansas-approved program. As licensed RNs, Loyola NP students train on their own license, which Loyola requires to be active in every practicum state. Before you commit to an Arkansas site, ask the Clinical Practicum Coordinator whether the site or the state needs anything beyond Loyola's usual steps.
Where Arkansas NP students look
Arkansas's population centers sit far apart. The largest, Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway, had close to 777,600 residents in the 2025 Census estimate, and Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers in the northwest came next with about 622,200. Jonesboro (roughly 139,400) and the Arkansas share of the Fort Smith metro (roughly 193,300) are smaller.
Clinicians gather around Arkansas Children's; UAMS Health, run by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences; CommonSpirit's CHI St. Vincent and Baptist Health in Little Rock; and Mercy, with hospitals at Fort Smith and in Northwest Arkansas. Each sets its own student terms. In a smaller market, plan FPCM III first: its 150 pediatric and 50 obstetric hours call for patients that not every family practice sees.
Licensing for an Arkansas site
Nurse Licensure Compact rules have applied in Arkansas from January 19, 2018, and the compact text itself sits inside the state's Nurse Practice Act. Hold an Arkansas multistate license and you cover the site and Loyola's Louisiana-or-multistate rule for enrolled graduate students in one stroke.

Can I take Loyola's online FNP while living in Arkansas?
Loyola's June 2, 2026 licensure table says its MSN and DNP curriculum meets Arkansas's educational requirements, while the School of Nursing's map from July 15, 2026 colors Arkansas green for all programs. Admission is decided separately, and your practicums need an RN license that is active in Arkansas.
Does Arkansas make Loyola file anything before my practicum?
The Arkansas board's published rules focus on schools setting up a new program in the state rather than practicum-only placements. Confirm with Loyola's Clinical Practicum Coordinator, who also obtains the affiliation agreement your Arkansas site must sign before a single hour counts.
My Arkansas NP preceptor works under a physician protocol. Is that a problem?
It is routine in Arkansas, where NPs keep a physician agreement covering part of their practice and prescribe some drugs only under a protocol. Loyola's questions are about the NP personally: certification, experience past the 2,080-hour mark, no relation to you, and hands-on supervision at the site.
Could I use my Arkansas license at a Louisiana site?
